Museum Panorama Mesdag

Museum Panorama Mesdag

The Panorama of Scheveningen is more than 140 years old. In 1880, Hendrik Willem Mesdag was given the commission of a lifetime by a Belgian panorama company: to create a 360-degree painting with his beloved Scheveningen as its subject.

The Panorama is a vista of the sea, the dunes and the old fishing village of Scheveningen. As a visitor, you find yourself in the centre of the painting surveying the view all round you from the Seinpostduin, then the highest dune in Scheveningen.
