The Rijksmuseum is among the most famous museums in the world, mainly because of the fame of the masterpieces in its collection. Van Gogh's Self-Portrait, Vermeer's The Little Street, Jan Steen's cheerful works and, of course, Rembrandt's The Night Watch. But Breitner's work and the Asian Pavilion also ensure that the Rijksmuseum continues to capture the imagination. The highlight is the Eregalerij, where the absolute best of Dutch 17th-century painting is on display.
