Near Amsterdam is Rijksmuseum Muiderslot, the oldest and best-preserved medieval castle in the Netherlands. A magical place surrounded by greenery and water. Built by order of Count Floris V in 1285, the castle has a long and tumultuous history. In the 17th century, the famous writer and poet P.C. Hooft lived there.
