At the Zuiderzee Museum, visit Sea of Stories, the exciting, interactive and completely revamped permanent Zuiderzee exhibition for everyone. In this exhibition, meet both former and current residents of the Zuiderzee region, who talk about their daily lives, work, clothing, homes and leisure activities. About their customs and their celebrations then and now. And about their eternal struggle against the water and the construction of the dike that changed everything: the Afsluitdijk. From April to October, you can see what life was like at the former Zuiderzee at the Outdoor Museum. Stroll past authentic buildings from the former Zuiderzee region in the beautiful outdoor museum. Past the fish smokehouse, where in season the fish hangs smoking, and past the stores and residential houses. Volunteers are happy to chat and tell you more about their lives in the Zuiderzee region.
