free visit to a museum in the netherlands
why this campaign?
In the Netherlands, every individual has their own voice, the space to form their own opinion and the freedom to express it. This is a great achievement that cannot be taken for granted. In some countries, if you express an opinion that differs from that of those in power, your life is not safe.
People are also persecuted because of their sexual orientation, ancestry or religion. To save their lives, they leave their homeland, leaving everything behind: family, friends and possessions. Some of them find protection in the Netherlands. Here they can build a new life in a safe environment.
VluchtelingenWerk Nederland, the Cultuurfonds, the Vriendenloterij and over 150 Dutch museums have joined forces to invite refugees in the Netherlands to visit one or more cultural highlights of our country. In this way, they become acquainted with the history, art, culture, but also with the dark pages in the history of the Netherlands. In this way, they get to know the country that is temporarily or forever their new home.
